Do you want to take the first step in becoming a pilot? This is a step in the right direction.
Aspiring pilots receive formal ground instruction and cockpit time with a certified flight instructor. Many cadets participating in a NFA even solo at the academy!
The learning environment is specially designed for cadets, and the low instructor to student ratio (normaly one instructor for two students) provides opportunities for mentoring and individual attention.
Participants in powered flight academies receive 10 hours of “hands on” flight time learning the basics of flying a powered aircraft (Cessna 172) and then switch over and fly as an observer when their student partner receives instruction. In addition they will receive approximately 25 hours of ground instruction.
We recommend you have a FAA Type 3 Medical Certificate completed prior to attending a powered flight academy.
Activity location: Shawnee Regional Airport & St. Gregory’s University, Shawnee, OK.
If flying commercially, your arrival airport is to be Oklahoma City (OKC). CFA staff will be making van runs to pick students up at set times and a central pickup point and bringing them to Shawnee. It is about a 40 minute van ride to Shawnee from OKC.
Welcome letter, and academic material will be posted after cadet participants are selected.
